S. Chalam has been appointed as Chief
Executive Officer of Accuspeed Engineering Services India Limited, w.e.f.
Jun 19, 2017.
Mr. Chalam has a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical
Engineering, M. S. (Management Systems) course from BITS-Pilani. He has 35 years of experience
in Design and Engineering. As head of operations, he managed a team of 900
working on medium & large multidisciplinary design projects ranging upto
600,000 hours. He has hands on experience in design of Equipments & Piping,
Bids preparation, material procurement etc; He visited Europe, Middle East and
South East Asia for project execution and management meetings.
Previously he worked as Managing Director in Consurgo Engineering & Contructions Pvt. Ltd., Vishakapatnam and was engaged in Design and Engineering activities.
Mr. Chalam held various positions in Technip India Limited, handling HOD of Mechanical Department, General Manager of Engineering and Vice-President Operations. The engineering work force was developed from strength of 100 to 900 and the engineering projects size ranged from 40,000 to 600,000 hours.
Earlier Mr. Chalam joined SPIC Limited and was involved in Design and material procurement for the new and revamps of Ammonia Storage terminal, DAP Plant, 18 MW power generation including 106 MT/hr Boiler, Aluminum Fluoride Plant, DG Power generation sets, PO/PG/Polyol units for Manali Petrochemicals, SA/PA plants for IJC Jordan, Ammonia /Urea complex for SFCL-Dubai.He also held various positions including HOD of Mechanical department which included Static equipment, Piping design and Procurement. Participated in development of the Basic Engineering package of Ammonia/Urea complex at Kellogg’s office in London.
He was responsible for implementation of the projects in the refinery, right from bids preparation to commissioning in Hindustan Petroleum Corporation. Projects handled were LPG storage and transfer, demineralized water treatment plant and mandatory crude storage, tank dia of 70 mts.
While working in Bharat Heavy Plates & Vessels Ltd he had the opportunity to work under the guidance of the European experts in design and engineering of the process plant equipments like Pressure Vessels, Heat exchangers, Fired Heaters, Storage equipment and Piping. He was one of the first few in the country to learn and perform the design using international codes like ASME, BS, AD Merkblaher and Indian codes and Standards. Apart from Design and engineering, he had a good exposure to production, planning & control, inspection and quality assurance, material selection etc.
